J-31 Nose Cone - NASA™ Ames Research Center


A high-density foam master was created for a master tool from which we made a two-part mold for the main nose cone. The cutout required a second tool that was CNC machined in three setups due to its complex form. Our composites experts’ utilized pre-preg laminates to fabricate several pieces that were then assembled for the rotating nose cone assembly for this Jetstream J-31 aircraft.
